The Peak Centre welcomes those who wish to deepen and enrich their faith (whatever that faith may be). Some will wish to conduct their own retreats and events, whilst others may wish to join the ones that we run. The Peak Centre links with the Youth Office of the Diocese of Derby in running events specifically for young people and youth leaders from parishes in the Diocese of Derby. Sometimes we are able to make places available to others, so do please enquire.
If you would like to know more about any of these events, or would like to book on to one of them please contact The Peak Centre by email or phone 01433 670254. You can also find out details of the events by joining our Facebook page.
KITWG started in 1994 as a unique chance for likeminded young Christians from the Derby Diocese to come together and share a weekend exploring Christianity. It remains a popular event designed to help support your faith and enrich your understanding of God. Many young people come again and again, finding it’s a lifeline in a world where it’s hard to hang on to your faith. Others just find it’s exciting, refreshing and fun.
We currently have 2 KITWGs annually:
The cost of KITWG weekends is still only £50, which includes accommodation, food and activities
3-5 November 2017
A weekend for young people in Yrs 6-10 who attend church in the Derby Diocese and have recently been confirmed (or not) and want to learn about God, meet new friends and try some exciting activities. Stepping Up brings young people from across the diocese together for their first in-house event at The Peak Centre. We have a strong adult leadership team of Christians from a variety of churches in the diocese who help ensure that this event is an excellent experience for all who attend. The Stepping Up programme offers a combination of learning and exploring sessions, outdoor activities, eating together, worship and some free time (if you want it). If you join us on Stepping Up you will automatically be invited to our other in-house events over the years to come.
Next event due in February 2019
Having a clergy parent and living in a clergy house isn't always the easiest way to grow up. This event is a "no pressure" chance to chill and be yourself with others who know what it's like to live in a clergy family. Worship and prayers will happen, but are not compulsory and you don't even have to be sure you believe in God, and much of your time will be filled in with activities such as our indoor climbing, archery, walking, and the amazing craft room!
There will also be a chance to make new friends – many who have come to this event over the years have remained firm friends.
Murder at the Vicarage/Ministry/Time Out is held every other year in the February half term - the next one is due in 2019. Year 6 and up are welcome to join us.
1-3 September 2017
Our Messy Church Family Weekend is a residential for anyone – families or individuals – who help run, simply attend, or would like to attend a Messy Church. We run a full programme to cater for all ages ranging from 1 to 80 years! Our first MCFW, in 2014, was enjoyed by everyone who attended. Last year one mum commented how quickly the 'getting to know you' activities “made us feel like a church family”, and one dad attending with his young children celebrated the “friendship, support, belonging and good catering” of the event. The weekend included archery and climbing, making badges, puppets and instruments with loads of glitter and loads of glue! We had Dodge ball, dancing, singing and football, parachute praying and bubble blessings, praising and learning, scavenger hunts and early morning bread making! New friends were made and lots of yummy food eaten! It would be great to see you in September!
