Changing lives

Since 1969, we at the Peak Centre have enjoyed offering hospitality and service to many tens of thousands of young people and adults. Nothing makes us feel happier than seeing and hearing young people more energised, excited, confident and motivated than when they arrived. That's what's fundamentally important. That's what we do.

Our Background

We are part of the Church of England Diocese of Derby. Our Christian ethos shows itself in practical and personal ways particularly in the care and respect we feel for each young life that passes through our doors.

You are in control - we work with you

A wide range of possibilities exists here: If you want activities, we provide activities. If you want to be left alone, we leave you alone; the choice is yours. If you want to explore spirituality or the Christian faith, we welcome that and can help by providing a conducive environment and resources. If you are a secular group or from a different faith community, we aim to help you in whatever you have come to do.

We like to work in partnership with leaders and teachers and to help to achieve the aims of each residential. This means that apart from our “in house” events, you retain control of the “what and when” leaving us to support you in your endeavours.

Undergirding it all, community

It is no accident that our speciality is helping you to create community. We believe that what you have read about us so far only works to full advantage if there is a real sense of community. That way relationships grow, co-operation increases, learning accelerates and confidence and a sense of self worth flourish.

Peak Centre people

The "We" consists of Chris, our Warden/Chaplain; Chris, our Assistant Warden; Jill, our Houskeeper; Rachel, our Assistant Housekeeper; Lesley our Accounts Manager/Administrator and Sam, our Administrator. We are a working community and enjoy each other's company, make work interesting and fun and are committed to providing the best service we know how.
